Cookie notice

The short version: this site sets no cookies. The longer version explains what is used instead and what Cloudflare does on the way to your browser.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep and to send back on the next visit. Sites use them for sign-in sessions, preferences, measurement and advertising. TroopSift has no sign-in, no preferences to remember and no advertising, so it asks for none.
What is used instead
One entry in the local storage of your browser, written only after you answer the notice at the bottom of the page:
- Key: troopsift.notice.v1
- Value: accepted or declined
- Purpose: so the notice stops reappearing on every page
- Lifetime: until you clear site data in your browser
- Sent anywhere: no — local storage stays on your device
Both buttons do the same amount of work: they record your answer. Nothing else on the site starts or stops as a result, because there is no tracker here to switch on.
Cloudflare
Pages are delivered through Cloudflare, which serves them from a location near you and filters abusive traffic. Cloudflare processes technical request data for that purpose and may add its own measurement script to the page. That script reports loading timings and basic device information without setting cookies and without building an advertising profile. It is inserted by the network, not written into our files.
What is not here
- No analytics service of ours, no tag manager, no measurement pixel.
- No advertising or marketing cookies, and no remarketing lists.
- No social network widgets, no embedded video players, no chat tools.
- No push notification service and no software development kit of any kind.
How to clear it
Clearing site data for troopsift.com in your browser settings removes the stored answer; the notice will then appear again on your next visit. Blocking storage for the site altogether is fine too — the pages work the same way without it, and the notice simply keeps appearing.
Legal footing
Storage on your device is governed in Ireland by S.I. No. 336/2011, the European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011, alongside the GDPR. The single entry described above is used solely to remember your own answer, which is why the site works without asking for further permission. The notice is shown anyway, so that you know what is stored before it happens.
