This notice explains what happens to data when you open a page of troopsift.com. It is written under the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who is behind this site

TroopSift is an independent editorial desk that installs free games from Google Play and publishes short notes about how they play. The desk is the controller for the limited processing described below and can be reached at editorial@troopsift.com.

What this site does not do

  • There is no form, no input field and no account anywhere on the site.
  • There is no newsletter and no browser notification of any kind.
  • We run no analytics of our own and set no cookies of our own.
  • We build no profiles, run no advertising and pass nothing to advertising networks.

What is processed when a page opens

The site is static and is delivered through Cloudflare, which acts as our content delivery network and hosting front end. To send a page to your browser, Cloudflare and the hosting provider process technical request data: your IP address, the time of the request, the address of the page, the referring page, your browser and device type and an approximate country derived from the IP address.

Cloudflare may also add its own measurement script to pages served through the network. That script reports loading timings and basic device information and does not set cookies. It is added at network level rather than written into our pages, and we have no separate report or database built from it.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in delivering a working, secure site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): keeping pages available, defending against abusive traffic and diagnosing errors.

Storage in your browser

When you answer the notice at the bottom of the page, one entry is written to the local storage of your browser under the key troopsift.notice.v1, holding the value accepted or declined. It stays until you clear site data, it is readable only by this site and it is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Links to Google Play

Every catalogue entry links to the store page of the game. Once you follow such a link you are on Google's service and Google's own privacy terms apply. We receive no commission and no report telling us who followed a link.

How long anything is kept

Server and network logs are held by our providers for a short technical period, normally no longer than thirty days, and are then rotated out. We keep no separate copy. Messages you send to the editorial address are kept for up to twelve months so that we can follow up on corrections, then deleted.

Recipients

The hosting provider and Cloudflare process request data on our behalf as processors under Article 28 GDPR. Nobody else receives data from this site, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask for access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to editorial@troopsift.com and we will answer within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish supervisory authority:

  • Data Protection Commission (DPC)
  • 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, Ireland
  • www.dataprotection.ie

Younger readers

The site is written for adults choosing something to play. In Ireland the age at which a person can consent on their own to an information society service is sixteen. We do not knowingly process data about children, and since the site has no form, there is nothing for a child to submit.

Security

Pages are served over HTTPS. The site contains no server-side application, no database and no upload path, which removes most of the usual ways data could be exposed.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Older versions are not archived publicly; write to the desk if you need one.
